Dubai Holding Record-Breakers Set To Shine

Dubai Holding is set to smash its own formidable record for the number of corporate competitors when the city takes to the streets for the 19th staging of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon on Friday (January 26).

More than 3,400 runners will represent Dubai Holding across the three races – the Marathon, the 10km Road Race and the 4km Fun Run – in a field that is expected see more than 30,000 turn out at the Middle East’s biggest mass participation event.

It’s yet another increase on the number of Dubai Holding runners from 2017 and maintains the company’s record-breaking push as it commits itself to the health and well-being of the community.

Dubai Holding is a long-standing sponsor of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon – a perennial favourite on Dubai’s ever-growing sports and fitness calendar – and it is an essential opportunity for fostering a culture of fitness among our own staff as well as the community at large,” said Dubai Holding CEO Edris Alrafi.

“Every year, we break our own record of fielding the largest corporate team at the race and we are proud to participate with a team of 3,481 runners in 2018. The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon is the first world-class event of the racing season and we are delighted to sponsor the dedicated UAE National prize category for 42km, 10km and the push chair races to encourage physical activity.”

With more than ten per cent of the competitors across the three races, Dubai Holding will have a major presence at the event, which gets underway with the first event of the day – the wheelchair marathon – at 5.55am.

“We are always impressed with the commitment of Dubai Holding and its staff when it comes to registering for the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon,” said Event Director Peter Connerton. “To get so many people signed up and then continue to increase those numbers year after year is a wonderful achievement and a great example to the corporate world.”

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and staged under the aegis of the Dubai Sports Council, the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon will see many of the world’s best long-distance athletes rub shoulders with amateur runners of varying ages and abilities. Entries are still being accepted through the official website www.dubaimarathon.org.

In addition to Standard Chartered as title sponsor, the Dubai Marathon is supported by the Dubai Sports Council, adidas, Dubai Eye 103.8FM, Masafi Natural Water, Dubai Holding, Dubai Police and the RTA.
